Protecting Your Mental Health in a Crisis
As we begin to adjust to this “new normal”, it’s easy to forget that the coronavirus pandemic is nothing short of a collective trauma. Even for those who are lucky enough to still have an income and be in good health, this is an unprecedented event that is taking a toll on everyone’s mental health.
It’s normal to feel more creatively blocked than ever. It’s easy to feel pressure to create, as we look back on great art that came from past times of peril. But your body and your mind are in survival mode – and it’s okay if survive is all can you do right now. Just because you may have more time on your hands doesn’t mean you have the brain space to fill that time. And that extra time means nothing if you are suddenly jugging additional childcare and financial stress.
Your creativity, motivation, and inspiration will all return. In the meantime, please feel free to share tips, resources, or just vent in this thread. We’re all in this together.
